How to fix a water main leak
An Aura water main was repaired in a Dallas suburb on Thursday, the latest in a string of water main breaks that have plagued the city in recent weeks.
The Austin-based water utility said in a statement the water main had been fixed at the time of the incident.
The water was not in danger of spilling or becoming a fire hazard, according to a statement from the Austin Fire Department.
The fire department is investigating the cause of the leak, which was discovered at about 9:45 a.m. local time, Austin Fire Chief Mike Brown said.
The department has been notified of a possible fire in the area.
Avalon-based WaterSense said it had been working with the Austin-Travis County Water District on the repair.
Agency spokesman Dave Leavitt said the Austin fire department would be assisting with the investigation.
WaterSense said in its statement that it had taken “all appropriate measures to maintain the water system and provide adequate water supplies to our customers.”
